EXTREMELY RARE!!! 12 piece Mid Century Tigerwood and chrome bedroom set designed by Milo Baughman for Thayer Coggin in the late 1970's. All tags are intact. There is even a tag on the back of one piece stating this set was in the Thayer Coggin High Point NC showroom in 1979. All pieces sit on a polished chrome base or they were also designed to be floating - meaning they have the ability to be hung on a wall (in fact some of the pieces still have the original hardware bag on the back for mounting). This set can be arranged in hundreds of different ways. Please note the photo of the lighted hutches together over the credenza were shot in a different room (when it was mounted) which is why the color difference. The other shots are a more accurate color.
This is a one owner set. It was purchased new in 1979. The owner kept ordering more pieces for it which is why there are 2 different styles of hardware (chrome and lucite) and very slight variations in the tigerwood as they were produced at slightly different times. However this is a complete, matching set. It consists of a King size headboard (which floats on top of the nightstands, the 2x4 supports can be removed). 2 nightstands, 2 corner pieces, 1 rounded corner cabinet, 1 wood hutch, 1 lighted glass hutch, 2 credenzas, 1 (3 drawer) cabinet, and 1 (2 drawer) cabinet which put together form a highboy dresser.
All pieces are in excellent vintage condition! Some pieces have slight crackling in the top poly typical of age (can only see if the light hits it right). The 3 drawer cabinet does have moderate, obvious crackling in the top poly, however if you use it as intended with the 2 drawer on top (to form a highboy dresser) you would never see it. Also 1 nightstand and the top edge of the same 3 drawer cabinet have some missing veneer (see pic). All drawers are very clean and slide on metal rails with no issue. Heavy, solid wood construction with polished chrome base all in excellent condition. This is such a rare set! You can find the similar burlwood pieces, but you never see the tigerwood pieces and certainly not in a complete 12pc set!! If this set were priced separately (on the low side) it would be well over $20K. You will never see a set like this again!! We have a ton of pics - just ask!
